Vivian Violet (Row) Hunter was born on May 31, 1921, at Philadelphia, PA to Foster and Melinda (Zang) Row. She was the third of six children. After graduating from high school and nurses training, she joined the U.S. Army as a nurse during WWII. After meeting him on a ship, Vivian married Chester Hunter on January 5, 1946, at Dante Hospital Chapel in San Francisco. Vivian and Chester lived in Astoria, OR, Vallejo, CA, Corpus Christi, TX, Agat, Guam, San Diego, CA, Bend, OR, Sinajana, Guam, Grand Rapids, MI, Katy, TX, and Doon, Iowa before moving to Edgerton, MN, in 2008.
Vivian died Monday, September 22, 2014, at Edgebrook Care Center. She was 93 years of age.
Vivian is survived by daughter Vivian Garen of Seattle, WA; sons, Chester, Jr “Skip” (Barbara) Hunter of Edgerton, Lynne (Kristen) Hunter of Dorr, MI; 12 grandchildren, Dwight (Cynthia) Quenga, Stefan (Megan) Haney, Amanda Haney, Alexia Haney, Brittany Hunter, Colin (Lisa) Hunter, Beth (Adam) Fennema, Ethan Hunter, Braelyn Hunter, Brenna Hunter, Brycen Hunter, and Jamison Hunter; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Anna Lou Osborne, and sister-in-law, Evelyn (Foster) Row
Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, Sr., 1 brother, Foster; and 3 sisters Lillian, Clara Mae, and Evelyn.
A burial service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Hillside Cemetery, Doon, Iowa, at 10:00 A.M.
