Mavis Arlene (Nelson) Harrington was born to Nels and Agnes (Best) Nelson on February 2, 1929 in LaCrosse, WI. She was raised and attended school in Winona, MN. After graduating from Winona High School, she attended college for two years at Winona State. On December 26, 1950 she was united in marriage to Jerry Harrington at First Lutheran Church in Winona. Following their marriage they lived in Hayfield, MN, Centerville, MN and Marietta, MN, where Jerry taught and Mavis was a homemaker.
In 1962, Mavis, Jerry and their three children, John, Jane and Susan moved to Edgerton, MN where they lived out the rest of their lives. Mavis passed away at Edgebrook Care Center on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the age of 84.
Mavis was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pipestone. Through the years she enjoyed bowling, playing bridge, travel, and above all visiting.
She is loving remembered by her children, John Harrington and his wife Kristi of New Richland, MN, Jane McElroy and her husband Tom of Wenatchee, WA and Susan Lammers and her husband Randy of Cannon Falls, MN; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her only brother Harold, and many dear friends.
