Marlow P. Roskamp Obituary

Marlow Peter Roskamp was born on October 6, 1943 in Slayton, MN to Koert and Grace (DeGroot) Roskamp. He grew up on a farm 5 miles south of Edgerton. He attended Southwest Christian School and graduated in 1961.

On February 24, 1967, Marlow married Henrietta Grace Zeilstra in Pipestone, MN. They lived in Edgerton where Marlow worked at Brink Implement repairing tractors. Marlow also spent 6 years serving in the Army National Guard. In 1978, Marlow and Hennie purchased a farm 6 miles south of Edgerton where he lived until moving into the Pipestone Hospice House one day before he peacefully passed, surrounded by his family.

Marlow and Hennie were blessed with five children: Danny, Tammy, Darcy, Tonya and Jamie. They are proud grandparents to Krista, Brittani, Ashton, Callie, Alex, Jessica & Austin. Marlow loved his family deeply and was a faithful fan who enjoyed cheering for his grandchildren at their sporting events and other accomplishments. He always had a minute to brag about what his grandchildren were doing. Marlow also had a love for animals of all types and was known to buy his dog a hamburger when they went to town.

Marlow’s life’s passion was working his farm. He never talked about retiring or even slowing down and moving to town. He was a farmer who tirelessly worked from sun up to sun down planting, tending, and harvesting. Working side-by-side with his son and grandson made the work even more rewarding. Marlow enjoyed riding his motorcycle and visited the Sturgis Rally many times over the years. Marlow was actively involved in the First Reformed Church of Edgerton and served as an elder, deacon, Sunday school and Catechism teacher. His love of God was evident to anyone who had the chance to meet him. Marlow was also a member of the Arthur Moeller American Legion Post in Hardwick, MN.

On Saturday, November 14th, Marlow entered his eternal home at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 8 days. He is loved and remembered by his wife, Henrietta; his son, Danny & Shanda, and their children, Brittani, Ashton, Jessica and Austin Roskamp of Edgerton; his daughter, Tammy & David, and their children, Krista and Callie Namminga of Sioux City; and his daughter, Darcy Roskamp of Sioux City. It gives us comfort and we smile at the thought of him being reunited in heaven with his daughter, Tonya; son, Jamie; grandson Alex; and his parents.
