Lynn John Anderson, age 69, of Jasper, Minnesota, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone, Minnesota. Funeral service will be Monday, January 12, 2015, at 10:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone. Visitation will be Sunday, January 11, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Burial following the service in the Holland Cemetery in Holland, Minnesota.
Lynn John Anderson was born July 10, 1945, to John H. and Lela (Stevens) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church, Hanley Falls, MN. Lynn graduated from Hanley Falls High School in 1963, as class valedictorian. He continued his education, earning a degree in accounting, from Mankato Business School.
Lynn was truly blessed by the births of his two children, Brian and Brenda. He later received three more blessings, his wife Jean (Paulsen Ahrendt), who he married on April 23, 1977, and her two children David and Jennifer. That day they were united as one family.
When grandchildren arrived in their family, Lynn found great joy in sharing with them his love of collecting toy farm machinery and model railroad trains. He truly enjoyed all sports and loved to follow his grandchildren in all that they pursued. Lynn cherished every moment that he could spend with them, even if it was only a telephone conversation.
Lynn was an independent insurance agent for over 30 years as well as held various career positions throughout his life. He greatly enjoyed his retirement on the farm; taking care of his sheep, chickens, dog and cats. He especially enjoyed spring and fall when he got to help his grandson Taylor in the field. Lynn held a deep faith and was always active in his church. He spent several years as a council member and treasurer for the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church, as well as an active choir member. Lynn had a love for music and had belonged to the Fiesta City Chorus, he also enjoyed following various barbershop quartets. He had an appreciation for the music of the Gaither Family. Lynn was a member of the Pioneer Power Association, enjoying antique tractors and machinery. He spent several years on the Hanley Falls Volunteer Fire Department. Lynn took pleasure in fishing and looked forward to their annual trips to Alexandria, MN.
Lynn’s kindness and gentle demeanor were felt by everyone who was fortunate to know him. He will be greatly missed and always cherished by those who loved him and share the many wonderful memories of his life including his wife Jean of rural Jasper; his children, Brian Anderson, Cheyenne, WY, Brenda (Jason) Williams, Cheyenne, WY, David Ahrendt, Jasper, MN, and Jennifer Ahrendt, Trent, SD; 4 grandsons, Taylor Shellum, Brandon Anderson, Brock Anderson and Corey Williams; 3 granddaughters, Brooke Anderson, Morgan Williams and Paige Ahrendt; 3 brothers, David (Georgia) Anderson, Gary (Jean) Anderson and Gale (Linda) Anderson; mother-in-law, Gertrude Paulsen; nephews, cousins, and many dear friends, especially Keith “Hud” Harris.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, one sister-in-law, Sharon Anderson, and father-in-law, Alfred Paulsen.
