Leslie Fay Thompson was born on February 17, 1953 to parents Gottlieb and Norma (Estle) Rieffer in Blue Earth, Minnesota. She joined two sisters, Kay and Ann and one brother, Tim. When Leslie was younger, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and was active in Girl Scouts. She attended and graduated from Lakota High School in Lakota, Iowa in 1971. After graduation, she attended North Iowa Technical College in Mason City, Iowa, where she obtained her degree in Nursing.
In September of 1971, Leslie was united in marriage to her true love, Philip Thompson, in Mason City, Iowa. Some years later, they were blessed with two babies, Sabrina Lynn and Cerissa Sue; sadly both children passed away. Years after their loss, Phil and Leslie began a long adoption process. With their prayers answered, they adopted a baby girl, Meghan Fay Thompson.
Leslie was a proud mother, telling of Meghan often, and most currently Leslie became Grandma, which was also a role she loved! Leslie was very active in Meghan’s activities; she served as Den Mother in Girl Scouts and would also help out at numerous school functions when time allowed. Leslie also had a passion for animals; especially her two dogs: Brandy, a Golden Retriever and Whinnie, a Chihuahua. She also enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Leslie was always willing to lend a hand to others. She was an amazing mother and a loving wife.
Leslie passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013, at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone, Minnesota. Leslie passed from complications of a recent stroke; she had also been battling with diabetes and many mini strokes. She is now free from all of her pain and suffering.
