Johnny Henry Edward Stuckenbroker
was born on September 6, 1931, to John and Elizabeth (Peters) Stuckenbroker in Denver Township, Rock County, Minnesota. He attended country school District 54 through the 8th grade. Johnny entered the United States Army in July of 1952 and was sent to Korea in January of 1953. He was there for one year and came home in April of 1954. He served in the Heavy Mortar Company 14th Regiment and attained the rank of Corporal. On February 10, 1964, he was united in marriage to Helen Sik in Wilno, Minnesota. They became members of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne, Minnesota. In 1994, they became members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Trosky, Minnesota. Johnny and Helen lived on the farm where he was born and he retired from farming in 1993. On April 10, 2017, Johnny received serious burns and due to complications from those burns died on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 19 days.
After his retirement Johnny enjoyed gardening, going to auctions, playing cards, and watching western movies on TV. He liked listening to old time music and enjoyed dancing in his younger years.
Johnny is lovingly remembered by his wife, Helen of Hardwick; children, Angela (Karl) Hanson of Marshall, Minnesota, Michael (Lynn Reding) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Edward of Hardwick, Ronald of Luverne, Teresa (Kevin) Anderson of Sacred Heart, Minnesota, Laura (Melroy) Buys of Edgerton, Minnesota, and Sheila Aanenson of Luverne; 15 grandchildren, John, Matthew, Christina, Theresa, Joseph, Rose, and Thomas Hanson, Sara and Rachel Stuckenbroker, Jessica, Miranda, and Kayla Buys, Samantha, Nicole, and Russell Aanenson; one sister, Gladys Buss of Lismore, Minnesota; and one brother, Harry (Doris) Stuckenbroker of Pipestone. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister, Helen; one brother, Alvin in September, 1994; sisters, Arlene Sievert in April, 2005, Viola Schmuck in August, 2010, and Judy Hawes in January, 2017.
