Jerry Kreun Obituary

Jerry Lee Kreun was born September 4, 1943, in Pipestone County, to Lawernce and Johanna (Beukelman) Kreun. He attended Edgerton Public School, he was a graduate of the Class of 1961. He was also active in band and choir. Jerry worked multiple jobs in high school. After graduation he worked as a janitor at the school. In 1963 he married Bev Lange. They were blessed with four children: Denise, Doug, Sheri, and Ross.
For most of his life, Jerry lived and worked in Edgerton. He went to Devry for telephone repair and worked for the Centel Phone Company for many years. He then worked as an electrician for several more years.
Jerry was a member of the First Reformed Church in Edgerton, where he served as a deacon and in the choir. He was also involved in the Edgerton community over the years. He served on the Edgerton Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years. He also served on the Edgerton Dutch Festival Committee, the Community Chest, and the Edgerton Night Watch.
Jerry was known for his humor, and he always had lots of “wisdom” to share.  He also enjoyed playing softball, bowling, shooting pool, fishing, and gardening. The Kreun Olympics were a highlight of his life. He also enjoyed camping. But he especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always said, “What happens with grandpa, stays with grandpa.”
Jerry and Bev took trips to Mexico and the Missouri River with Jerry’s sister Mary and her husband Ivan.  Those trips were always filled with lots of laughter. He also enjoyed fishing trips with the “guys” to Ballards at Lake of the Woods.
Jerry passed away on April 7, 2022, at the age 78 years, 7 months, 4 days. Jerry is lovingly remembered by his wife Bev and his four children, Denise and Gregg Halbur of Slayton; Kyle (Chelsie) Kreun, Ayden, Landon, Wendy Kooiker (Aaron), Vaeda, Emberly, Daniel Halbur, and Jonathon Halbur; Doug Kreun of Pipestone, Kari (Brandon) Rozeboom, Isla, Timothy Kreun, Tiffany Kreun, Kaylin, Cooper; Sheri Towne (and friend Brent Hulstein) of Edgerton, Eric Monroe (Kelsie), Marley, Tucker, Jordan Towne (Anastasia), Brandi Towne (Trenten) first baby in May; Ross and Missy Kreun of Edgerton, Karson, Maddyn. His sister Mary (Ivan) Evink of Pipestone; nephew, Travis (Errin) Evink of Horace N.D.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandsons Joshua Mead and Jerry Allen Kreun, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Russell and Phyllis Lange.
