Jerry Brink Obituary

Jerry Dean Brink was born on June 21, 1951 to Marion and Nellie (DeGroot) Brink at the hospital in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was raised in Edgerton, Minnesota and was baptized and made his profession of faith at Bethel Christian Reformed Church. He attended school at Edgerton Christian Elementary School and graduated in 1969 from Southwest Christian High School. In 1971, Jerry was drafted into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1972 due to his father’s sudden death. Jerry had begun working at Brink Implement Company, the John Deere dealership started by his grandfather, sweeping floors and dusting shelves, from a very young age. After his discharge, he returned and took over the business operations of his Dad’s dealership for the next 25 years. Jerry and Jan Zwart were married on August 14, 1981 at First Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton. They made their home in Edgerton one block away from where Jerry was raised and were blessed with three children. In addition to the dealership, Jerry worked for Cycle-Mate Manufacturing assembling motorcycle trailers and drove fuel truck for Fraser Oil Company.

On Thursday, December 31, 2020 while at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jerry went to be with his Lord at the age of 69 years, six months and ten days.

Jerry was an active member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church, including serving as deacon and as a Cadet counselor. He was very involved and active throughout the community, including serving on the ECES and SWC school boards, city council, the Dutch Festival Committee, Edgebrook board, and as a volunteer fireman for 38 years. Jerry enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends, attending car shows with his Corvettes, and traveling to see his children and grandkids. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather that was always present for his family and friends when they needed him

Jerry is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jan; three children and four grandchildren, Matt (Julia) Brink and their children, Aliyah, Anthony and Symphonee of Chandler, Arizona, Ryan (Lindsay “Charlie”) Brink of Washington, D.C., and Kristen (Riley) Niemeyer of Boyden, Iowa and their son, Niles; mother, Nellie Brink of Edgebrook, five siblings Daryl (Sharon) Brink of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Cheri (Cal) Groen of Edgerton, Donna (Barney) Fox of Victor, New York, Loren (Jennifer) Brink of Dripping Springs, Texas, and Brenda (Kevin) Kleinjan of Edgerton. He was preceded in death by his father, Marion.

Memorials may be directed to Southwest MN Christian Schools or the Edgerton Fire Department.
