Harold James Jasper passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and hard work. Born on February 23, 1932, to James and Henrietta (Visser) Jasper on their family farm west of Edgerton, MN, Harold’s life was rooted in the land and his community.
Harold and Gertrude met through their church, beginning a beautiful journey together that led to their marriage in 1953. Shortly after, Harold answered the call to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. A veteran of the Korean War, he was stationed in Colorado before returning home to his true calling: farming. In 1954, Harold and Gertrude bought a farm near Ruthton, where they raised their four children and worked the land until 1992. Even after moving back to Edgerton in retirement, Harold’s heart remained on the farm, where he continued to help for many years.
Known for his love of a good card game and his unwavering devotion to his family, Harold is lovingly remembered by his wife of 72 years, Gertrude; his children, Jolene (Tom) Huebner, Robert (Jamie) Jasper, and Douglas (Beth) Jasper; and daughter-in-law, Vivian Jasper. His legacy lives on through his 8 grandchildren,
25 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, James; grandson, Nicholas; his parents James and Henrietta; and his siblings, Don, Esther, Bernard, Bernice, and LeRoy.
