Grace Van Hulzen was born to Frank and Gertie (Buyert) Koelewyn on November 17, 1918 on a farm near Lismore, Minnesota; Grace was the oldest of 7 children.  She attended school in Leota, Minnesota for 8 years. 

Grace married John Van Hulzen on August 10, 1937 at her parent’s home.  They made their home on a farm near Kenneth, Minnesota for several years with several moves to farms around Edgerton and Leota.

Grace enjoyed working in the fields, milking cows and feeding calves.  She did many years of wood finishing.  Grace’s ultimate joy was spending time with family.  Grace also enjoyed baking, quilting and crocheting. 

They moved and retired in Edgerton, Minnesota.  They attended Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota and most recently Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton.  After John’s death, Grace continued to live at home until October of 2009, when she moved into Edgebrook Care Center.  On Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the age of 94, Grace met her Jesus.

Grace is survived by her children Harold (Mary) Van Hulzen of Edgerton, Minnesota, Virg  (Roni) Van Hulzen of Edgerton, Minnesota, Glenn (Connie) Van Hulzen of Fridley, Minnesota, Dean (Becky) Van Hulzen of Edgerton, Minnesota, and Deb (Cal) Vonder Haar of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Bert (Gilbert) Corbin, Florence Buys, Frank (Leona) Koelewyn, Gertrude (Harvery) Sas  and Dena (Clares) Christians.   She was preceded in death by her husband John, an infant daughter, Hermina; granddaughters: Lorinda and Kay; grandson Kent; brother Art; brother-in-law Walt Buys and sister-in-law Henrietta Koelewyn.
