Elmer John Veldhuizen was born to Willem Christiaan and Hattie (Zwart) Veldhuizen on January 12, 1925, in Rock County, Minnesota. As a young boy, he attended school in Rock County.
Elmer married Marie Vander Steen on February 12, 1948, in Edgerton, Minnesota. He farmed his whole life and loved the outdoors. He was a charter member of the American Reformed Church of Woodstock, Minnesota.
He entered into his eternal rest on March 30 at the age of 92 years, 2 months, and 18 days.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Marie; children: Chris (Clare), Brenda Vander Lugt, Bev (Jim) Schwalbach, David (Christine); ten grandchildren: Amy Vander Lugt, Krista (Ryan) Bos, Brian Vander Lugt, Melissa (Brad) Prouty, Ryan, Nick (Jennifer) Schwalbach, C.J. (Shawnie), Lindsey Schwalbach, Luke, Aaron; five great-grandchildren: Kylen Bos, Judd, Vera and Sela Prouty, Jackson Schwalbach and siblings, Bernice Doornbos, Bill (Audrey) Veldhuizen, Rev. Ed (Janice) Veldhuizen. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Peter Vander Lugt; sisters: Norma Veldhuizen and Wilma Kruisselbrink; brothers-in-law: Joe Rysdam, Hank Doornbos and Howard Kruisselbrink.
