Craig Fey Obituary

CRAIG LAWRENCE FEY was born on November 14, 1971 in his parents' bedroom at their family home in Edgerton, Minnesota where he was lovingly raised along with one attentive younger sister and two mischievous brothers. Craig was a lifelong and confessing member of First CRC, serving as deacon and sang with the praise team. He developed his relationship with Jesus as a Cadet while also attending Edgerton Christian Elementary.  He graduated from Edgerton Public High School in 1990, and was an active leader in RCYF throughout his high school years.  During his childhood, Craig found his first love, the outdoors, where he pursued hunting and fishing, becoming an expert at everything from walleyes to waterfowl and even took out a few rabbits through the dining room window.  At the age of 16, Craig fell in love a second time when he purchased his Dodge Challenger and spent many hours restoring (and racing) it alongside his teacher and lifelong mentor, his Dad.  Craig began his first and only career joining his Mom and Dad at "the shop".  Following his high school graduation, he attended Worthington Community College before transferring to be with his best friend Owen at St. Cloud State University where he majored in... well nobody really knows what Craig majored in, but he had fun and got good grades none the less, graduating in 1994.  Craig returned to Edgerton and on September 2, 1995, he was united in marriage to his next and greatest love, Shelley Brands, at First CRC, where they also raised their family.  He went on to purchase Roger’s Auto Sales from his parents along with his brother and business partner, Trevor, eventually building their new dream showroom and business headquarters.  Craig was a gifted mechanic and automotive genius, able to diagnose and fix anything by simply taking it apart and figuring it out.  Craig loved to serve others and spent much of his adult life as an EMT, storm chaser, Dutch Festival committee member, and various volunteer positions at the school and church.  He had a passion for music and entertainment and an uncanny ability to find live music anywhere.  He was often found in his glory, dressed up as his favorite characters making others laugh and smile, or cruising the highway on his Harley Davidson with the music turned way up.  Craig was always "Happy, Happy, Happy".  His love for the outdoors landed him many trophy-worthy fish and wildlife, however he was never prouder than when one of his sons made the big catch.  His boys can be seen hoisting their prize in photos as Craig admired his greatest and proudest achievements, his sons Ashton, Derek and Kade.  He looked for every opportunity to spend time with his family, often calling them to go camping, fishing, hunting, or to ride dirt bikes, and he spent many hours at their sporting events or taking his whole crew to nearby lakes to simply be together.  Craig entered heaven and the loving arms of his Savior on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the age of 49 years, 10 months, and 9 days.  Craig will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shelley; children Ashton (Kacey), Derek (Brooke), and Kade; parents Roger and Gloria; siblings Bambi (Ross) DeBoer, Travis, and Trevor (Abbie); Ron and Sandy Brands, Doug (Lisa) Brands, Juanita (Steve) Ruiter, Ronna (Travis) Van Santen, Jason (Brianna) Brands, Ross (Jen) Brands, Justin (Emily) Brands, many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends because Craig never met anyone who didn't grow to love him.

He is proceeded in death by his Grandparents, Ervin & Evelyn Fey and Bernard & Maggie Spronk.
