Clara Hofstee

Clara (Luinenburg) Hofstee was born Feburary 10, 1918 to Henry and Marie Luinenburg in Sibley Iowa. She moved to Brewster as a child in 1924 and attended country school through the eighth grade. She is a survivor of the 1918 Spanish flu. She began working as a maid for individual families in Worthington until she met Peter Hofstee. Peter and Clara were married on August 4, 1943. They lived in Bellflower, Calf. where daughter Mary was born. They returned to Minnesota to farm.  Nancy their second daughter was born in Worthington. In 1957 they moved to a farm south of Pipestone where they farmed for 42 years. After Peter’s passing in 1986 Clara remained on the farm for 3 more years. She then moved to Worthington, Minn. She entered Edgebrook Care Center November 2014. She passed away on April 18, 2020 at the age of 102 years, 2 months and 8 days.

Clara loved being a wonderful homemaker and was very talented in cooking, baking, sewing, handwork, gardening and flowers.  

She is loving remembered by her 2 daughters, Mary (Bern) Stoel and Nancy Hofstee; two grandsons, Clark Stoel and Perry Stoel; two great grandsons Brodie Stoel and Kane Stoel; her siblings Grace Dykema and Marvin Luinenburg, sister-in-laws Jean Hofstee and Bonnie Hofstee.  She was preceeded in death by her husband; siblings and spouses Ann, Harry, Mary and John, brother-in-laws and spouses Gerrit, Everett, Dick and Hans.
