Arnold Francis Bolluyt was born on May 3, 1921 to Margaret VerSteeg Bolluyt and Tunis (Tom) Bolluyt near Leota, Minnesota.  Arnie was baptized at the First Reformed Church of Edgerton.  After graduating from the Edgerton Public School, he enlisted in the United States Navy.  He returned to Edgerton after 3 ½ years in the Navy.  He worked in the grocery store until a position opened up in the Post Office.  He worked 39 ½ years for the Post Office as the Postmaster and a rural carrier.

He married Viola Stoltenberg, the Postmaster from Trosky, on June 21, 1954 in Nashville, Iowa.  He became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Edgerton by profession of faith on April 7th, 1942 and served as an Elder and sang in the choir.  He enjoyed gardening, his dog, Molly, playing cards, going out to eat, offering candy to everyone and having coffee with friends.  Arnie was a devoted husband to Vi for many years, and especially during her final times.

After Vi’s death, he was reunited with Kay Nielson of Sacramento, CA, his high school sweetheart.  He traveled many times to spend time with Kay and became acquainted with her son, Mike and his wife Janis.

Arnie lived at the independent apartment complex of the Edgebrook Estates until August of 2015.  He transitioned to Assisted Living apartment for 7 days and then to the Care Center after suffering a broken arm from a fall.  He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on February 18, 2016 and entered into hospice care at the Edgebrook Care Center.  On March 4, 2016, Arnie died at the age of 94 years, 10 months and 1 day.

His parents, Tom and Margaret; his wife, Viola; and Kay Nielson preceded him in death.  He is remembered by Norm and Ethelyn Fey of Edgerton, Del and Mary Bolluyt of Edgerton, Keith and Cheryl Stoltenberg of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Mike and Janis Nielson of Sacramento, California, nieces, nephews, friends and cousins.
