Allen Harris Walhof was born to Henry and Jennie (Vanden Bosch) Walhof on November 21, 1934 on a farm in Rock County, Minnesota, near Edgerton, Minnesota. He attended Southwest Christian High School. On November 16, 1954, he entered the U.S. Army and served in Greenland until November 15, 1956. He then returned to Edgerton where he worked as a blacksmith. On June 5, 1957, he was united in marriage to Lavonne DeGroot at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton. Following their marriage, they lived in Edgerton and Al owned his own feed grinding business. In 1964, he started farming northwest of Edgerton where they lived and raised their family. When they retired in 1999, they moved to Edgerton and Al continued to help his son on the farm.
Allen was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton. He was also a member of the Kenneth F. Kingsley American Legion Post 42 in Edgerton. He enjoyed spending his spare time fishing and watching the MN Twins.
He is lovingly remember by his wife, Lavonne Walhof of Edgerton, MN and six children: Henry “Hiene” (Karen) Walhof of Edgerton, MN; Alyce (Rich) Bakker of Everett, WA; Diane (James) Stryd of Spokane, WA; Nancy (Mike) Landhuis of Orange City, IA; Wendy Bowlin of Snohomish, WA; Sue (Craig) Stephenson of Clear Lake, IA; grandchildren: Daniel Walhof, Jessica Walhof, Megan (Chad) Kischer, Sarah Bakker, Drew Bakker, Jeniffer (Brandon) DeVries, James Stryd, Victoria (Hunter) Austin, Josh (Kelsey) Landhuis, Zach (Trisha) Landhuis, Katie (Nick) Stimson, Joel (Kaylin) Bowlin; great grandchildren: Kate and Eli Kischer; Hailey and Lucas DeVries, Logan and Lexa Landhuis, Ella, Zoey and Arya Landhuis, Kendall Stimson, Tommi Bowlin; brother: Fred (Chris) Walhof, sister: Bernice (Elroy) Post; sisters-in-law: Verla (Duane) Mulder and Mayme (Art) Spronk.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bernard Walhof.
