Albert Ray Peterson was born April 29, 1925 in Edgerton, Minn. to Albert I. and Violet (Ray) Peterson. Al graduated from Edgerton High School, earned his B.A. at Hamline University and his M.A. at Cal State University Los Angeles. Al was a teacher, coach, and school principal for many years. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Al passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in Bellingham, Washington at the age of 90 years.
He enjoyed golf, camping, dancing, and travel. He will be remembered as a hard worker who also liked to have fun. He was a dedicated and active church member, a Mason, and an active member of Kiwanis.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth Peterson in 1986, second wife Lorraine Peterson in 2003, companion Norma Vacio in 2016, and infant daughter Pamela Peterson.
Al is survived by his daughter Patricia (Jim) Hawley of Bellingham, Wash., son Pete (Suzanne) Peterson of Lawrence, Kan., grandchildren James Hawley, Rachel (Jason) Sounders, Samantha Peterson and Michael Peterson, great-grandchildren A.J., Ryan, James and Ellie, and many loving relatives and friends.
