Trudy Diane Schelhaas

Trudy Diane Schelhaas was born on September 26, 1952 to Vernon and AnnaBelle
(Beckering) Schelhaas in Pipestone, Minnesota. Trudy grew up in Edgerton, Minnesota and
attended the Edgerton Public School. She graduated from high school and began working
for the Huisken Market in Edgerton. Trudy enjoyed working for Huisken Market for 20+
years before she started to work at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton. Trudy adored
working at the Edgebrook Center, spending all of the time that she could talking to the
residents there. Along with caring for the residents of Edgebrook, Trudy lived with her
parents and helped them take care of the house and especially the garden. Due to her
sudden, declining health, Trudy entered the Pipestone County Hospice House on Friday,
November 30, 2018. Trudy passed away at the Hospice House in the early hours of the
morning on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the age of 66 years, two months, and five days.
Trudy was a member of the First Reformed Church in Edgerton. When she wasn’t working,
Trudy would spend her time reading and loved gardening. Along with reading and
gardening, Trudy had an extensive collection of Barbie Dolls. Trudy loved her family above
all else, sending them detailed letters and never missed a birthday. She also took great
pleasure in doting on her two beloved nephews, Zachary and Max, and her great-nephews,
Preston, Levi, and Ashton. In 2010, Trudy travelled every Saturday to the Twin Cities to
watch Zachary race.
She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Vernon and AnnaBelle of Edgerton; one
brother, Ken Schelhaas of Chaska, Minnesota; her nephews, Zachary (Brittany) Schelhaas
and Max Schelhaas; her great-nephews, Preston, Levi, and Ashton; many loving cousins; her
beloved coworkers and residents at Edgebrook; and many friends and other family
members.
