Beverly Faye Tinklenberg, a loving Mother, devoted wife, and faithful friend, was born to Peter and Eleanor Ten Cate in Edgerton, Minnesota November 17, 1934. Beverly grew up in a family of four boys and two girls. She attended Edgerton Christian schools and married husband, Virgil, March 2, 1954. After short stays at US Army bases, Virg and Bev settled in Sioux Falls, SD where they raised their three boys. Over their 63 years of married life, Bev and Virg, showed a commitment to one another and to family. They enjoyed ministry, travelling, and hosting people in their home. Despite pain and illness due to Virg's back issues and Bev's exceptionally rare heart disease for which she became a research patient at the medical centers of the University of Minnesota and the University of Florida, they maintained positive outlooks and a life of faith. Beverly did not allow heart disease to hinder her or take her life. Nearly everyone who met her experienced the open door of her heart and home. But on June 19, 2017 in Spokane, WA, the Lord used pancreatic cancer to call her home just 9 1/2 weeks after diagnosis.
Beverly loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ and His Church. She was passionate about attending or leading weekly Bible studies in Bible Study Fellowship or Coffee Break. Opportunities to reflect on mission trips to Mexico, Guatemala, Liberia and especially China made her glow. Being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren filled her with great joy.
Beverly is survived by husband, Virgil; three sons and their wives: Perry and Kathy, Roy and Esther, Jay and Kathy; and eight grandchildren and spouses: Laura and Matthew, Michael and Jena, Bethany, Benjamin, Brooke, Jacob, Jaris, and Janae; and five great grandchildren: David, Micah, Ezra, Alayna, and Nolan; three brothers and their wives, Jim and Nancy Ten Cate of Sioux Falls SD, Robert and Sandy Ten Cate of Sioux Falls SD, and Orlin and Alyce Ten Cate of Grand Haven MI. She was preceded in death by her oldest brother, Harold Ten Cate; sister, Yvonne Ganschow; and Great granddaughter, Aliza Grace Lanser.
In lieu of flowers or personal gifts, Virgil requests gifts be made to the “Beverly Tinklenberg Memorial Fund,” at his mailing address (1271 N Mill Rd #338 Spokane WA 99208). All memorial gifts will be divided equally among the ministries of Virg and Bev’s three sons. Perry is the lead Pastor at New Hope CRC, Spokane, WA. Roy is a church planting Pastor in Mountain View, CA. Jay is a volunteer with Nations of Coaches, a Christian ministry to athletes in Arlington, TX.
